    Caroline is a resident in Millbrook. At the foot of the hill where she lives there was a small piece of ground that owned by the local council. No-one came to garden it or look after it and it was very overgrown. People had started to leave rubbish there. Someone had left an old hoover and there was lots of glass bottles lying around.

    When an area of land is designated to be a Park, it becomes a park and the Municipality is in charge of its creation and maintenance. Sometimes a green area is green only because wild plants are growing inside it.
    This is the story of the Rosa Raimondi Park, its neighborhood and a group of citizens and associations that have created the Garbatella Urban Gardens, citizens that acted for preserving the area from building development. The Garbatella Urban Gardens is a story of active citizenship and participation.

    Once upon a time … In 2000, through the enthusiasm of some inhabitants, Croq Jardin was born, to allow them to come together and garden. A few years later, the purpose of garden also becomes educational: children and adolescents are involved in the creation of the garden during participatory projects.
